Colorado Mountain Skiing Regions

Appreciating the Colorado MountainsThe mountains of Colorado are among the state’s best features.  In fact, most tourists will state that unless you’ve seen the mountains you haven’t truly seen Colorado, the Centennial State.  Part of the Rocky Mountains region is found in Colorado and this section contains the highest mountain peaks in all the U.S.  In fact there are over 51 mountain peaks in the area that reach over 14,000 feet in elevation. To get a better view of Colorado’s mountain region, try visiting the Rocky Mountain National Park.  Not only can you get a great view of the mountains, you can also take part in activities like hiking, camping, mountain climbing and fishing.  Mountain climbing the highest peaks does not require any special expertise, though you may need some wits to avoid the heavy traffic.  In addition, you can also enjoy riding on horseback or cross-country skiing in the wintertime.  Keep in mind that the mountains are covered with snow in the winter and the ice melts in the warmer season, which could alter your plans for hiking or skiing.  Though the Rocky Mountains in Colorado gets a lot of visitors every year (The park alone gets an estimated three million) you can plan for a quieter viewing by avoiding the most populated peaks and tourist areas.
