My Beloved Late Dog
When I was growing up, my dog was the love of the whole family. We all spoiled her by giving her extra treats, always taking her in the car with us, giving her a special bed, and so on. It was very hard for all of us when she began to get older. Our dog was a Shih-Tzu, which is a very tiny kind of dog – in fact; it is a “toy” breed. While the tiny size and smushed-in face of the Shih-Tzu breed can be very cute, it also means that the dogs have problems as they get older. Our dog, like many in the breed, had back problems because her spine was too long her body. One way in which we tried to help was by giving her a elevated dog bowls which was elevated. That way, she did not have to bend her whole front down to drink water, but could reach the water bowl at a comfortable height.
