Mulitple Marriages
Since it is not legal in the United States to be married to more than one person at a time, it can be useful to search marriage records to determine if this has happened in a certain situation. Some people are sadly too lazy to actually go through the time and expense of a legal divorce and figure no onewill really know the difference. Other people (usually men) go into marriage knowing full-well they are still legally married to another woman. This can become complicated when there are legal issues that arise. It’s also just not fair to the women who, in most cases, don’t know about the other wife or wives.
