Ethnic Instruments: Defining Music
Music is defined as an art form with sound as the medium. The common elements of music include pitch, rhythm, dynamics, and the sonic qualities of timbre and texture. The word "music" was derived from the Greek word "mousike".Wikipedia also tells us that the creation, performance, significance, and even the definition of music vary according to culture and social context and, of course, ethnic instruments. Music ranges from strictly organized compositions, to improvisational music. Music can be divided into genres and sub-genres. A musical instrument is a device makes music. In principle, anything that produces sound can serve as a musical instrument. The term "musical instrument", however, is generally reserved for items that have a specific musical purpose such as a piano. Interestingly, many ethnic instruments predate rock and roll instruments, but sound a lot better and soothing.
